A 79-year-old German man went into cardiorespiratory arrest last night in a hotel in Funchal.
The Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM) and EMIR were called out at around 11 pm to assist the man.
When rescue teams arrived at the hotel, the security guard was trying to revive the victim. Despite further resuscitation attempts by the fire brigade and EMIR personnel, the man died.
Tragically his 76-year-old wife ended up feeling unwell due to the shock and trauma of the incident and was transported by the BVM to the emergency department of the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
