Pregnancy: Folic Acid and Potassium Iodide Reimbursement

Women residing in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in the phase of preconception, pregnancy and breastfeeding, can benefit from the full reimbursement of the expenses in the purchase of supplements: potassium iodide and folic acid. This support is available under the “Program for the Promotion of a Healthy Pregnancy”, implemented by the Regional Government, through the Institute of Health Administration, IP-RAM (IASAÚDE, IP-RAM), in January 2023.

IASAÚDE, IP-RAM reminds you that reimbursement is accessible throughout the Autonomous Region of Madeira and can be requested at the User Support Desk, located on the premises of this Institute, or at one of the reimbursement points located in the different municipalities of the Region, within a maximum period of 6 months from the date of purchase of the supplements. For this purpose, the beneficiaries must present the following documents: medical prescription or treatment guide, statement from the attending physician attesting to the pregnancy or the need for the supplement, invoice/receipt for the purchase of the supplement, document issued by the Health Center where the beneficiary is registered, copy of the citizen card, document with the beneficiary’s bank identification number (NIB).

IASAÚDE, IP-RAM also highlights that this measure comes as a reinforcement in the support of young families in the Region, contributing, at the same time, to the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits and to the good development of future generations.
