Artur Sousa, a 36-year-old man who was stabbed over the weekend, died from his wounds.
According to local newspaper, JM, the emergency services were alerted to the incident at 02:30. Officers from the Volunteer Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol were sent to the scene, with two ambulances, to provide additional support. However, an EMIR team was also called given the severity of the injuries.
According to a firefighter source, the man was transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital but died from the severity of his wounds.
Luckily, the Public Security Police were able to identify his attacker.
Artur Sousa is said to have been a quiet young man, who would not have provoked such an attack.
Yesterday evening, the Judicial Police confirmed that they had arrested a man in connection with the crime.
Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
