Tomorrow, December 31st, the Portuguese Air Force will take to the skies from north to south of the country, including the archipelagos, as part of their end-of-year celebrations.
“Taking advantage of the last training flights of the year, this Sunday, two F-16M will fly across mainland Portugal, while a C-295M aircraft will fly over the islands of the central and eastern group of the Azores Archipelago and another C-295M will fly over the Madeira Archipelago,” PAF announced.
In the case of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the Portuguese Air Force aircraft will take off from Porto Santo, around 2:30 pm, then head to Caniçal, and then fly over Santa Cruz, Caniço, Funchal, Câmara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava, Ponta do Sol, Paul do Mar and Ponta do Pargo before making its way back to base.
As lovely as this gesture is to all aircraft enthusiasts, it again shows the limited thoughts towards the archipelagoes, as the Mainland gets F-16s and Madeira and the Azores get a transport plane. Not quite the same thing!
