This Christmas, the Funchal City Council (CMF), will host 12 different events as part of its ‘Christmas in Funchal,’ which starts on the 23rd of November and ends on the 6th of January.
The municipality recently presented the programme, with Cristina Pedra, the Vice-President of the CMF, stating that the official opening of the Christmas season on the 23rd will commence with the opening of the ‘The Magic of Christmas in the Market.’ On the 25th of November, children and families will be able to experience the Christmas Village in the Municipality Square, the natural ice rink in Almirante Reis, a play, and other activities to celebrate the Christmas season.
Everything is designed so that people have fun, stressed Cristina Pedra. She went on to say that a programme of events will be sent to all families so that they can organise their Christmas entertainment and take part in the city’s cultural programme.
The Mayor, Pedro Calado, stated that a poster has been prepared to support local commerce, as well as promote the interaction between parents and children and children and grandparents.
“It’s a moment of fantasy, magic, fun and relaxation in what has been a difficult year,” acknowledged Pedro Calado, considering that 2024 will be “certainly better.”
