The BVM mountain rescue and rescue team carried out a risky rescue operation this afternoon.
A woman (nationality unknown) had an accident in the area of the Pináculo viewpoint and ended up falling over the barrier and slid down the cliff face. Fortunately, she became trapped in the vegetation and was said to be hanging 20 metres away from the viewpoint.
Despite the prompt and quick action of the fire brigade team, the woman, who was assessed as being in her fifties, did not survive the ordeal.
Please note that the weather is erratic at the moment, and care should be taken when walking along exposed paths, roads, and walking routes.
