Mosquitos Take Over the South

The prevalence of the ‘Aedes aegypti mosquito has reached unprecedented levels this year in Madeira.

Bruna Gouveia, the Regional Director of Health, associates the high-density egg distribution with the extreme climates that Madeira has suffered this year.

Work is being done to combat the mosquito but unfortunately, the mosquito has established itself within the island’s southern territory, making it difficult to eradicate.
