Yesterday saw the pre-trial of a 45-year-old man caught trying to start a fire. The alleged Prazeres arsonist was holding a blowtorch and a machete in his hands, while a can of petrol stood next to him when the Judicial Police caught him in a surprise raid.
According to JM, the man was on the verge of setting fire to his house. The suspect was heard for hours in court yesterday and was transported to a nursing home, Once stabilised, he will be transferred to prison, where he will await sentencing.
Seven houses were affected, four people have been displaced, and a further 72 people were in need of medical assistance.
