The new Canhas reservoir will benefit 358 farmers, irrigating an area of about 36 hectares.
Susana Prada, Regional Secretary for the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, made it known during her visit to the site that the new reservoir represents an investment of 3 million euros, co-financed by PRODERAM, will have a capacity of 3000 m3 and will increase the storage capacity and the availability of water to the farmers of the parish.
According to the Regional Secretary, completion of the work should take place in the second quarter of 2024. The land is currently undergoing initial clearing and excavation.
The reservoir will be equipped with automation control, supervision, and telecommunications equipment, with an interconnection to the ARM Telemanagement Centre (in Funchal), allowing for remote operations control.
