Levada Rubbish Collection Initiative

The São Roque do Faial Casa do Povo will carry out another rubbish awareness and collection session on the pedestrian route between the 103 regional road and the viewpoint of Balcões (Ribeiro Frio), tomorrow from 14:30 hours.

In addition to collecting litter, the Casa do Povo’s goal is to raise awareness of the importance of the forest, its richness, and its contribution to our region. Along the way, participants will have the opportunity to get to know the local flora and fauna, primarily focusing on the indigenous plants of the area. As the route is part of the laurel forest, its importance to the local ecosystem will be particularly emphasised.

An officer from the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) will join the volunteers at 15:30 pm at the Ribeiro Frio Forestry Post.

The activity is open to all those who want to participate.  If you are interested in lending a hand, make sure that you are at the Ribeiro Frio Forestry Post by 14:30.
