New Funchal – Toronto Route Opened Today

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, was present today at the International Airport of Madeira – Cristiano Ronaldo to mark the occasion of the inaugural flight between Toronto (Canada) via Ponta Delgada to Funchal which arrived at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo at 11:20 am.

The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Cátia Vieira from ANA Aeroportos, and Susana Lourenço, SATA’s head of stopover in Funchal, were present at the venue to mark the debut of the new operation. The flight landed on time carrying 120 passengers.

Eduardo Jesus praised the start of the new operation that connects Madeira to Canada, allowing there to be, from now on, greater market flexibility and greater accessibility for Madeirans living in Canada.

It should be noted that the SATA, Azores Airlines is operating a weekly scheduled flight from Toronto on Fridays, departing at 20:45 (local time), arriving in Madeira at 11:20 (local time) the next day. The return flight from Funchal is scheduled for Saturday at 12:25 (local time) and arrives in Toronto at 19:30 (local time).

The airline will use an Airbus A321 LR, which can seat 190 passengers in two separate classes.
