The search for the missing Army man was abandoned due to bad weather this afternoon, without having found any evidence of the victim. Land searches will resume tomorrow through the assistance of the Army and the GNR, under the coordination of the Port Captain and Local Commander of the Maritime Police.
Today’s maritime search was undertaken by various means, including jet skis from the Funchal Lifeguard Station, a SANAS Madeira vessel, and a Republican National Guard (GNR) vessel were used. On land, GNR personnel and the Portuguese Army actively participated in the search, with additional help coming from a team of drone operators from the Operational Command of Madeira.
