The search continues for the missing Army man who was swept into the sea by a wave while fishing in São Jorge on Saturday night.
Today there were more than fifty operatives, a Portuguese Air Force helicopter, and crew and drone operatives looking for the missing man. Rui Teixeira, commander of the ZMM and the National Maritime Authority, has followed the search and told JM that “no traces of the young man were found or detected.” During this morning, a possible sighting occurred, but, we were unable to confirm it,” assuring that he remains committed to the search by all means possible. “At the end of the day, we will look at the whole operation and make decisions. Today we will suspend the search at sunset, but tomorrow we will again carry out the whole operation.”
Several family members are at the scene, including his brother and a friend who kayaked around the area to try and find some trace of his friend.
