Santana Volunteer Firefighters, with the support of the Municipal Firefighters of Machico, were called out to help a woman who had fallen from a considerable height while walking between Queimadas and Caldeirão Verde, Santana.
The search and rescue mission comprised 11 members of the Santana Volunteer Firefighters mountain rescue team and 3 firefighters from the Municipal Firefighters of Machico.
The only other information available was that the tourist’s condition needed to be assessed from the ground before the firefighting helicopter and crew could be called in to assist in the operation.
