Sea Pollution Control Training in Funchal

Between the 18th and the 21st of April, the Directorate for Combating Sea Pollution held a Sea Pollution Clean-up training course in Funchal. The training was aimed at the various entities involved in the fight against pollution, providing trainees with the necessary skills to identify and eliminate sea pollution in the region’s coastal waters.

Forty-nine trainees from various places participated, such as the Madeira Maritime Zone Command, the Administration of the Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM), the Madeira Fuel Logistics Company (CLCM), the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology, and Innovation (ARDITI), through the Madeira Ocean Observatory, the Regional Directorate of Fisheries of Madeira, the Regional Directorate for the Environment and Climate Change of Madeira, the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (ICNF). The Institute of Firefighters of Machico, the Professional Institute of Transport and Logistics of Madeira (IPTL), and the companies Makeen Energy Portugal, Perimadeira, and Gomes and Caires also participated.

This training action was supported by the Maritime Department of Madeira, the Regional Agency for the Development of Research, Technology, and Innovation (ARDITI), through the Madeira Ocean Observatory, and Army Regiment No. 3.
