A “small” crowd attended this afternoon’s cherry blossom walk in Jardim da Serra, hosted by the Centre for Development and Sociocultural and Agroforestry Innovation.
The walk started at 15:00 in the Rotunda das Cerejeiras, located next to the Civic Centre. As they walked, participants were encouraged to tell legends and various stories along the route. It’s very participatory, said a spokesperson for the event, who stressed that the goal is for people to both contemplate nature and get to know each other. “Through contemplation, we appreciate the cherry blossom, and through storytelling, we immerse ourselves in a living history of the area,” said Manuel Gonçalves, President of the Board of the Centre for Development and Sociocultural and Agroforestry Innovation.
Furthermore, the walk aimed to highlight the effect of climate change on the agricultural landscape.
What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
