The savings resulting from the application of Zero VAT on food products considered essential will not be significant, but “despite everything, it will help,” says Ana Ferreira, responsible for DECO in Madeira.
She went on to say that the list should have been more extensive and included hygiene products, whose prices and necessity affect everyone.
It doesn’t help that the Regional Government has increased VAT on fuel. So any savings will be lost in travelling costs.
