As on the mainland, inspectors from the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) will join the strike scheduled from the 5th to the 10th of April. The services provided by inspectors at the airports and ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira will be the minimum permitted by law.
Talking to reporters, Carlos Costa, SEF Inspector and union delegate of the Union of Inspectors of Investigation, Inspection and Borders (SIIFF) stated:
“The strike is national and includes the Autonomous Regions and occurs for the reasons previously announced. The alleged negotiation revealed that, after all, it is not a negotiation, but rather an imposition and nothing that the unions appeal for is met.” Added Carlos Costa, stating “that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) did not guarantee anything in the negotiations. What the unions ask for is nothing “more than the acquired rights” during the validity of the work developed by the inspectors within SEF.”
In the region, services at Madeira Airport, Porto Santo Airport, and Funchal Port will be affected by the Easter strike.
