Rowdy Nightlife Curtainled in Old Town

During the early hours of Saturday morning, the Public Security Police (PSP) and an inspection team from the Funchal City Council (CMF) carried out a joint operation in the Old Town and Rua das Fontes, which limited the functionality of bars that were offering an extensive nightlife programme without the relevant license.

All venues that did not have a ‘dance floor license, with or without a DJ, were only allowed to sell drinks.

Following the inspection operation, several bars ran out of clientele, and some businessmen complained about the “lack of understanding” of PSP agents and CMF inspectors.
