Regional Government Appeals Against Airport IMI

The ruling of the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Funchal, which requires the Airport to pay IMI to the Chamber of Santa Cruz, will be challenged by the Regional Government, with the challenge being made after the final appeal date.

According to local newspaper, JM, the Chamber of Santa Cruz has not yet been notified and the deadline for appeal ended on Friday the 24th.  However, legally, it is still possible to submit a challenge a few hours after the deadline!

At the moment, what is known is that the Regional Government will appeal against the unprecedented judgment of the Administrative and Fiscal Court of Funchal, which insists that the airport pays IMI to the municipality of Santa Cruz.

From the outset, the President of the Government has been hostile to the decision and remained silent and ambiguous on the subject, stating in public, that the Regional Government hadn’t decided to appeal or not.
