As part of their ongoing training, 12 members of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM) Search and Rescue team performed a reconnaissance/familiarity training mission on Pico do Cidrão, located between Pico do Areeiro and Pico Ruivo.
However, the weather added an unwelcome yet important surprise by snowing heavily, making individual movement and maneuverability difficult.
At the end of the five-hour training session, team leader, António Francisco, confirmed that the day had been a success, they had accomplished all they had set out to achieve and concluded by thanking local guide, Gonçalo Silva for accompanying them the whole way.
