To celebrate its 8th anniversary, the Museological Nucleus of the House of the People of Caniço will hold a talk on the life of José António Costa, a US civil aviation pioneer who was born in Caniço in 1909.
The talk will take place on Saturday the 28th, at 5 pm, in the museum nucleus of Caniço – Francisco Peres Street, located by the municipal library and the Parish Council office.
The speaker will be José Luís de Sousa Freitas, “an avid aviation enthusiast and expert on José António Costa.”
“Joe Costa, as he became known in the United States, was a pilot, flying instructor, and entrepreneur. His descendants still run his business, and there is a New York airport named after him.
