After the news broke that former Funchal Mayor, Paulo Cafôfo was being investigated – again! He took to social media to explain his position.
I took notice of the news that is being spread by various social media bodies with allusion to an investigation by the Public Ministry, following an anonymous report, regarding the time I was president of the Municipal Council from Funchal (between 2013 and 2019).
Although I was aware of the establishment of an inquiry process at the DCIAP in 2018, I do not know the specific terms of that process.
Nevertheless, I clarify that I am not aware of any fact that may indicate the practice of any illegal criminal, having always performed political functions with smoothness, transparency, and respect for legality, rather than favour commercial interests.
I await with serenity the conclusion of the investigation process that is still ongoing, reiterating my availability to collaborate with the judicial authorities in order to facilitate a speedy conclusion to this problem.
