The rehabilitation project of The Sand Fountain was presented this afternoon in Porto Santo, in the presence of the president of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque.
The work includes the recovery of leisure areas, snack areas, pedestrian routes, including beach access and a car park.
The Sand Fountain is a geosite of scientific value – at a geological level – as well as a cultural and social area for the local population.
During the presentation, the Mayor of Porto Santo, Nuno Batista, emphasised the historical and cultural value of the place for the Port-Santenses, recognising, the importance of restoration work which should start soon.
The procurement procedure is underway, and all proposals have to be submitted by the end of January.
