The Regional Government Council met on Wednesday and authorised the amendment of the Concession Contract for the Public Service for the Regular Carriage of Passengers and Goods by Sea between Funchal and Porto Santo.
Thus, the regional executive signed off the following agreements:
– Free of charge maritime transport service to the island of Madeira, for agricultural products produced in the port of Porto Santo, throughout the year;
– The availability of 10 seats for residents of Porto Santo, on all trips made in the direction of Porto Santo – Madeira, throughout the year, and the passage must be requested up to a maximum of 48 hours in advance, in relation to the time of departure of the ship;
– The availability of 3 places, in all trips made in the direction of Porto Santo – Madeira, throughout the year, for residents of Porto Santo who, for health reasons and with medical reference, need to move, urgently, to the island of Madeira;
– The obligation to make, free of charge, the maximum number of 6 extraordinary trips, annually, between the island of Porto Santo and the island of Madeira, or vice versa, in case of inoperability of the International Airport of Madeira – Cristiano Ronaldo, in terms to be defined through a protocol to be concluded between the Grantor and the Concessionaire.
