Scientific research will benefit from the 2023 budget.
In his speech, Jorge Carvalho stated that the 2023 Budget, includes a scientific research allowance of 12.8 million euros, 31% higher than in 2022. He went on to say that 94% of the money will go towards investment within the sector. The remainder will be spent on operational costs. This way, Madeira can focus on scientific research, as well as attract and support talented individuals from the region and globally.
Finally, the Regional Secretary for Education criticised the lack of support for education, stating that too much focus on construction and not on the education of the population.
