With the sudden spate of pickpocketing and thieving up at Cabo Girão viewpoint, many believe that thieves are dressing themselves up to look like tourists, therefore, creating an atmosphere of trust as well as using their cover to identify ‘easy targets.’
Local guides have requested more police presence and the installation of security cameras.
News has also been released that today, two Romanians suspected of pickpocketing were apprehended at the Cabo Girão viewpoint, hours after local media outlet JM alerted their readers of the ongoing problem.
