  Womaniza-te Pink Boxes Project

During October, Womaniza-te launched its Pink Boxes Project in the municipality of Santa Cruz, with the aim of helping women, especially adolescent girls, access free feminine hygiene products.

“This initiative comes under the pink rate, which is applied to feminine hygiene products making them more expensive than men’s toiletries. In addition to this fee, intimate hygiene products continue to be taxed as luxury goods and not as first-necessity goods, meaning that the cheapest brands already cost between €2 –  €3, and much more for named brands.

The initiative was carried out as part of International Girl’s Day (10th of October). The association in partnership with the Municipality of Santa Cruz distributed six boxes to six institutions throughout the municipality, namely the School of 2nd and 3rd Cycle of Caniço, the EB /PE/Creche Dr. Alfredo Ferreira Nóbrega Júnior in Camacha, the Basic and Secondary School of Santa Cruz, in the Renascer Nogueira project, in the Nogueira Community Center and in the Shop of the Munícipe do Caniço in the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth.

In the week of the 11th to the 15th, a campaign was carried out to collect feminine hygiene products with the collaboration of the FT Association, on behalf of Carina Pestana, which during all its Zumba and exercise classes collected several products that were given to the Association.

Furthermore, the association has active collection points at its base at Olho Te na, Nazaré, and Teatro Metaphora in Câmara de Lobos.

In each of the respective pink boxes, there is a QRCODE, which gives direct access to the Womaniza-te website, which contains all the information you may need. Everyone can contribute to this worthwhile project by contacting the association directly through their social network pages.
