The human remains found on Monday in the parish of Ilha, Santana have been identified, and are said to belong to a Madeiran who disappeared in the area in 2014.
Speaking to media outlets a Judiciary Police (PJ) source explained that “there is no suspicion of foul play,’ but as yet they cannot release details of the victim’s identity. However, the remains will be examined by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, with further examinations being undertaken by the Scientific Police Laboratory.
