Police and health authorities are investigating the cause of death of a 48-year-old man found dead inside his house in Santa Maria Maior this afternoon.
Funchal Volunteer Firefighters, an ambulance and a technical support equipment vehicle (VETA) were called to the scene, where VETA personnel cleared the entrance to the house and carried out the initial inspection of the body.
After the coroner confirmed that the body could be removed, a police source said, that although the death was not deemed to have been from natural causes, the man’s death was not the result of a crime.
