As part of the protocol established between the Funchal City Council (CMF), and the Associação Protetora dos Pobres (APP), which incorporates the “Solidarity Housing” project. Social responsibility councillor, Helena Leal, today visited the APP, taking advantage of the occasion to conduct a working meeting with APP technicians, who will, together with the Municipality of Funchal, monitor and assist in this initiative.
Following this meeting, it has been agreed that during the first phase, the shelter will house four homeless people in their premises at Rua dos Ilhéus. Helena Leal reinforced the Municipality’s commitment to “continue to support these types of initiatives in order to allow everyone to benefit from a mutually inclusive society. Taking the opportunity to highlight the conditions that the Associação Protetora dos Pobres provides is “an increasingly important social response, in the sense of alleviating the scourge of social exclusion and isolation.”
The project facilities include accommodation up to 24 months, training and employment opportunities in condition for complying with the associations rules.
