The president of the CMF, Pedro Calado, stressed today that LIDL is welcome to the Municipality. In this regard, he highlighted the licensing of the three projects presented by the company, which demonstrates that “the chamber wants and accepts into the community a new economic entity.”
However, the proposal regarding the installation of the superstore in a building next to Largo Severiano Ferraz, in the Madeira Wine area is out of the question. The building he stressed is not adequate for several reasons, namely non compliance with urban planning rules, as it is a very specifically designed old building which will not adapt well to the movement of heavy and containerised vehicles.
