Yesterday on Rua 5 de Octubro, three people were involved in an incident which ended with two people being stabbed.
According to a Red Cross source, both the woman’s and a man’s injuries were serious, but not life threatening. The man was stabbed in the abdomen and face, the woman suffered a blow to the arm. They were rescued by teams from the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP) and transported in CVP and Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM) ambulances.
Aged between 45 -50 years-old, the pair were attacked by a man who had been hiding in a building nearby. Luckily he was caught and detained by police.
The reason for the incident is unknown, and the Public Security Police are investigating the situation.
