Tomorrow evening (Saturday), from 10:30 pm International Bat Night will be celebrated at the the Cristo Rei viewpoint, in Garajau. The evening is is a joint project by the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), and Madeira Fauna & Flora initiative.
The aim of the initiative is to help the general population become more aware of how important bats are, and to learn a little bit more about their habitats, habits and species endemic to Madeira, as well as demystify and eliminate prejudices people have about these wonderful mammals. Participants will have the opportunity to hear the echolocation emitted by surrounding bats, through the use of ultrasound detectors.
The evening is limited to 50 participants.
