Since its foundation in 1999, the Funchal Marine Biology Station has held a monthly ‘Open Night’ event through July, August and September, allowing the general public to have take part in a guided tour of the station between 20:00 and 21:15, as well as listen to a guest lecture on a sea related topic.
This month’s ‘open evening’ will taken place on this Saturday, the 27th of August.
Guest speakers this month are Kirsten and Joachim Jakobsen, from the Rebikoff-Nigeller Foundation and pilots of the research submarine Lula-1000, who will talk about the submarines scientific activities in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Joachim’s documentary “Deep Time,” winner of the Cannes Short Films Festival, in the Best Short Documentary category, 2022, will also be premiered.
