Temperatures Soar in Santo da Serra and Quinta Grande

According to data published by the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA) at 1 PM today, the highest temperatures recorded on the island were Santo da Serra with 31.4ºC, while Quinta Grande registered temperatures of 31.2ºC and Prazeres (Calheta) 31.1ºC. Other affected areas include Pico Alto and Monte who respectively recorded 30.3ºC and 30.5ºC.

In the capital, the Funchal observatory, registered 26.4ºC.

The region is currently under an orange alert for heat, and this will remain in place until tomorrow evening.
