The Region, it is said, continues to make great strides in taking advantage of new technologies and digitisation. As such, 5G coverage will be fully installed by NOS Madeira by the end of June.
As Madeira will be the first Portuguese region to have the new internet speed and other 5G benefits, the Regional Secretary for the Economy stated that “the enormous potential of augmented or virtual reality is being demonstrated not only in commerce, but also in the real estate and tourism sectors.”
Ricardo Cardoso, Director General of NOS, highlighted the potential of 5G at various levels, with particular emphasis on the development of clusters in the future Central and University Hospital of Madeira.
Currently, there are more than 300 technology companies in the Region.
