End of Mandatory Mask Wearing, But Conditions Apply

The Regional Government has confirmed that mandatory mask wearing will end from 11:59 pm on Saturday the 14th of May. This means on Sunday, those who wish to, can enter an enclosed space without wearing a mask.  However, there are certain places/situations where masks must still be worn.

In health facilities and services, including community pharmacies;
In residential or reception structures or home support services for vulnerable populations, the elderly or people with disabilities, as well as integrated continuing care units (UCCI) of the RAM’s Integrated Continuing Care Network;
In the use of collective passenger transport, as well as in the transport of passengers by taxi or similar;
On platforms and covered accesses to public transport, including airports and maritime terminals;
In confirmed cases of COVID-19, in all circumstances, whenever they are out of their place of isolation until the 10th day after the date of onset of symptoms or positive test.

Madeira will remain in an ‘Alert Situation’ from 00:00 on the 15th of May until 11:59 pm on the 31st of May.
