According to the latest data received by the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), until 1:00 pm today, Funchal, Quinta Grande and Monte had recorded the highest temperatures. Values reached 29ºC at the Funchal observatory, followed by 27.1ºC in Monte and 26.6ºC in Quinta Grande with Cancela reaching a lunchtime temperature of 26ºC.
The island’s cool spots were Santana (18.7ºC), Pico do Areeiro (18.9ºC), and Ponta de São Jorge (19.6ºC).
