Four of the defendants being tried for abuse at the Lar do Porto Moniz Old People’s home, were today sentenced to a range of suspended sentences of between eight to twelve months and three years in prison.
Another defendant was acquitted of all abuse crimes allegations.
In addition to prison sentences, the defendants were also sentenced to pay one thousand euros to each of their victims, and will have to attend, during the period of their suspended sentence, an anti victimisation of senior citizens awareness programme.
