From the 11th of May, the Madeira Regional Nucleus of the Portuguese League Against Cancer will provide a Legal Support Service for patients, cancer survivors and their families.
In a press statement, the Madeira Regional Nucleus of the Portuguese League Against Cancer informs that this service is designed to provide information, advice and support in solving problems with legal relevance presented by patients, cancer survivors and their families, through the legal consultation and the preparation of legal opinions. This service is provided by Jurists/Lawyers, free of charge.
Its primary objective is to provide “individual” support to cancer patients and survivors, through legal information, advice, assistance in solving bureaucratic issues and communication with public entities (namely, the Tax Authority, Social Security, Caixa Geral de Pensions, ADSE) and non-public (namely, banks, insurance companies, employers), when there are disputes between the patient and the entities. In addition to this individual support, this unit also seeks to intervene with public bodies, through the preparation of legal opinions, namely regarding the law to be applied to specific cases.
This service is also provided through the Cancer Line of the Portuguese League Against Cancer (808 255 255), via telephone service, or by email (linhacancro@ligacontracancro.pt). and with appointments via the Green Line (808 255 255) or by telephone (291 236 597), via telephone service, or by email (apoiojuridico.nrm@ligacontracancro.pt).
