The PP – Associação Observatório das Paisagens e Pannormas do Arquipélago da Madeira, is dedicated to the regions panoramic landscape conservation, and as such, will be hosting a public/regional media presentation on Wednesday the 23rd of February at 4 pm, at the Cais da Ponta do Sol (Sol Poente Restaurant).
During the presentation, the Association will comment on works that are already being carried out and others in progress, such as those related to the AZIAS (fish farming areas in the south of the island) and the Curral das Freiras Cable Car project.
According to the press release, the PP – Associação Observatório das Paisagens e Pannormas do Arquipélago da Madeira, will undertake the following objectives:-
“Carry out studies on the diversity and transformation of the landscape, at various scales, taking into account its causes and consequences of a biophysical, economic and sociocultural nature.
Defend the regions environment, natural heritage and nature conservation.
Organisation of defence, communication, promotion, dissemination and education actions for the preservation of the visual quality of landscapes as a global historical-cultural heritage of interest to humanity and for the promotion of sustainable development.
Its intervention will be developed within the Regional, National and International scope.
The Observatory of Landscapes and Panoramas of Madeira policies are aligned with the following international organisations:
a) “International Union for Conservation of Nature” (IUCN/IUCN);
b) “European Environment Agency” (EEA);
c) “Foundation for Environmental Education” (FEE);
d) “Worldwide Fund for Nature” (WWF)”
