For the Needy in the Population

The Food Bank raised 19 tonnes of food with a collection campaign from 27 Nov until 5 December in the Pingo Doce Supermarkets. A statement from the institution:  “Given the context in which we live, this is a good result, thanks to the active participation of the Regional Director of Pingo Doce, his team and especially the cashiers, to whom we are very grateful.” How does this work? The institution gives out “vales” for products such as rice, flour, cooking oil etc., which are displayed at the checkout. The cashiers ask the customers if they’d like to contribute, The “Vale” is then added to the customer’s bill. At closing hour, the “sold” products are collected from the shelves and delivered to the Food Bank.
