World Aids Day

Currently there are 230 AIDS patients being treated in Madeira.  While approximately 700 people have been diagnosed with the disease since its onset in 1981.
While talking to reporters and attendees at today’s World AIDS Day conference, the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection, Pedro Ramos, believes that awareness campaigns have worked, especially with regards to at risk groups.
Moreover, the Regional Government has invested one million, one hundred thousand euros in treating people with AIDS, and wants to reaffirm their commitment in helping and treating those suffering from the disease.
