While attending the Feira das Vontades, in Largo da Restauração and Placa Central, an event that aims to celebrate International Volunteer Day and publicise the work of Social Solidarity Institutions, the Government and local authorities, the Mayor of Funchal, Pedro Calado, issued an appeal asking everyone to volunteer as a way of helping the regions associations and supporting local communities.
He went on to say that the Funchal City Council (CMF), is currently preparing a programme of partnership schemes with parish councils, as a way of providing ‘support and care to the entire population.’ And this is something, he said, that can be fostered through volunteering.
