JM magazine Improvável, today presented the Madeira Regional Nucleus of the Portuguese League Against Cancer with a donation from the tickets sold at their solidarity event ‘Sunset Improvável,’ which was held on the 1st of October.
The donation was presented this morning by magazine publisher Sofia Nunes to Ricardo Sousa, the President of the Madeira Regional Branch, and Helena Toste Silva, coordinator of the ‘Vencer e Viver’ movement, who showcased the different cancer associated products i.e wigs, they have on offer, and how monies received are spent.
During the presentation, Helena Toste Silva said, “for us, your donation is very important, because the League survives on donations. At any given moment we usually provide 10,000 euros worth of support to patients. This money is spent on those who need it the most, and used to provide the basic necessities such as food, transport to and from hospital, and whatever else is needed. We also provide wigs and breast implants, so you can see, your donation is incredibly important to us, as by helping us, we can help others.”
October is traditionally knows as Pink Month, or ‘October Rosa,’ an initiative promoted by the Portuguese League Against Cancer, through the ‘Vencer e Viver’ Movement, with the purpose of raising awareness for the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer, namely through screening, as well as providing information and support to women and their families.
The shop is located at 11 Rua das Murças, Funchal.
