According to Vitor Prior, Madeiran delegate of the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), the ash cloud from the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma, should not affect the Madeiran archipelago.
While talking on local radio – 88.8 JMFM – Vitor confirmed that a 3.0 earthquake had been recorded at 11:00 am this morning between Tenerife and La Palma, but that no seismic activity around Madeira had been registered, except for the minor quake last night.
Concluding, he said that he did not foresee any problems, but that he would be monitoring the volcano’s activity very closely.
