A Polish woman fell five metres when she jumped from a balcony of the Siriús Hotel, Rua das Hortas, Funchal, seriously injuring herself.
The woman who was breaking the curfew regulations and trying to leave unnoticed by hotel staff so that she could meet a man she had met that night, jumped from her balcony to another structure close by hoping that she would be able to scrabble down to the road below and meet her lover. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan, as the structure collapsed, and she fell onto the road below.
Her accident was attended by a Portuguese Red Cross ambulance team, where she was immediately transported to hospital.
