With the Madeira Wine Rally taking place this weekend, there will be several road restrictions in place. Furthermore, several roads are also under repair.
– between August 5th (8:00 am) and August 11th (21:00 pm), interruption of road traffic in Rua do Seminario (Sé parish) – intervention on the pavement, next to the junction with Rua do Ribeirinho de Baixo;
– on August 5, interruption of road traffic on the Caminho da Lombada (Parish of Monte), in the section between Estrada da Vitória and the Rampa do Pico da Lombada, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, as well as conditioning of a lane of circulation between the 6th and 13th of August, between 8 am and 6 pm, except on weekends – cleaning of a private land using a crane truck;
– between August 5th and 19th, interruption of road traffic at Rua do Lazareto (Santa Maria Maior parish), in the section between Rua Conde Carvalhal and Rua Vista Lazareto – contract for the control and monitoring of the municipality’s associated water networks the telemanagement system – 2nd phase;
– August 7th and 8th, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, restrictions on car traffic and prohibition of parking at Rua Pedro José de Ornelas (Santa Luzia parish), in the section between Rua da Levada de Santa Luzia and Rua Nova Pedro José de Ornelas – tree cleaning;
Madeira Wine Rally Road Changes
Between 7 pm on Thursday to 7 pm on Saturday, car access and parking on Avenida Sá Carneiro will be interrupted, and car traffic will also be restricted on Rua Carvalho Araújo and Túnel da Pontinha, allowing only the access to vehicles related to the organization of the event, hotels and the port of Funchal. Access to and exit from the car park at Praça CR7 is also restricted, and the taxi stand on Avenida Sá Carneiro will be closed for the duration of the event.
On Thursday, between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm, road traffic in the Sá Carneiro Tunnel (north-south direction), on Avenida do Mar, south traffic lanes, the section between Rotunda Sá Carneiro, in Praça da Autonomia and the left turn of Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro towards Avenida do Mar and Comunidade Madeirenses.
During this interruption, public transport from the west side will circulate on Estrada Monumental towards Avenida Luís de Camões or Avenida do Infante, resuming return journeys on Avenida do Infante (Cristóvão Colombo School) or Rua Dr. Brito Câmara (stop La Vie). Routes from Rodoeste can choose to use Via 25 de Abril to the Campo da Barca Terminal and vice versa.
As an alternative road, take Via 25 de Abril, Av. Do Infante and Av. Do Mar in the east-west direction. Parking is prohibited on Avenida do Mar and access to the car parks of Galerias de S. Lourenço and Marina Shopping will be restricted.
On Friday, between 8:50 am and 12:00 pm and between 2:10 pm and 5:15 pm, car circulation is interrupted at Terreiro da Luta, Caminho dos Pretos, Curral dos Romeiros, Caminho do Meio, Rotunda Dr. Nélio Mendonça, Caminho das Voltas , in the section north of Rua do Pomar, Travessa do Campo do Pomar, São João Latrão and Palheiro Ferreiro (with access to the hotel, residents and parking being assured).
Finally, on Saturday, between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, road traffic on Avenida Arriaga (south strip) is interrupted, Rua Conselheiro José Silvestre Ribeiro south of Av. The changes to public transport and alternatives to road traffic are repeated: public transport in the west zone will circulate on Estrada Monumental towards Avenida Luís de Camões or Avenida do Infante, resuming return journeys on Avenida do Infante (Cristóvão Colombo School) ) or on Dr. Brito Câmara Street (La Vie stop). Routes from Rodoeste can choose to use Via 25 de Abril to the Campo da Barca Terminal and vice versa. As an alternative road, take Via 25 de Abril, Av. Do Infante and Av. Parking will be prohibited on Avenida do Mar between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and the car parks at Galerias de São Lourenço and Marina Shopping will be closed between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
