On Saturday the 31st of July, a ‘Teenage Pfizer Vaccination Open Day’ will be held between 13:00 and 19:00, at the Technopolo Vaccination Centre, Funchal, for children and teenagers aged 12 to 17 years old.
In a brief statement, Pedro Ramos expressed his hope that the initiative would attract young people, especially as this year the emphasis is on ‘Holidaying in Safety.’ Appointments are not necessary, and children and young adults do not need parental consent to attend the session.
He affirmed that the vaccination of children, is vitally important, and contrary to what was initially said, children not only can catch Covid-19, but can also transmit the virus. He went on to say that children can also be hospitalised and die of the virus, stressing that the death of an unvaccinated child is completely different to that of an adult who has refused to be vaccinated. To date, 1,631 children and young adults have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Concluding, he said that an ‘Open Day’ will be held in Porto Santo during August, and asked all Madeiran’s holidaying on the island, who have not yet been vaccinated, to attend the session
